The Future of Learning

A great video fronted by technology and education supremo Prof Stephen Heppell, all about the need to adapt modern day teaching methods, so that technology is integrated into the fabric of what teachers and students do.

Sacha,

I especially liked the closing, "We are no longer in the information age, but the learning age..."

The minority has always been in the learning age, regardless of the state of technology. I'm an optimistic fellow, but I still think it's always going to be the minority of educators who will be the innovators. The crowd may or may not follow, and the pace of structural change may be painfully slow.

A classic read is a short book by TS Kuhn, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. It sets up a model for understanding how science progresses, even the "science" of education.

Hi Don,

Thanks for the Kuhn reference. I'll try to get hold of it.

You're right. It's a good line about being in the learning age. It reminds of the quotation, 'education is a journey, not a destination.'

All the best,

Sacha
