Something old, something new - Walkman V iPod

BBC NEWS | Magazine | Giving up my iPod for a Walkman

I just read this great story on the BBC, in which a 13 year old is given an old fashioned cassette-based Walkman to use for a week.

Terrifyingly, it's been 30 years since the first Walkman was released by Sony, changing the landscape of personal and portable music for ever.

The article is well written and entertaining. It'll make some of you feel distinctly nostalgic.

Read more here.

Glad to see you back after you short hiatus! I have been monitoring y our blog and now I see you are beginning to post again.

The sony walkman cassette is humongous! I can't believe I used to carry one around and thought it ws so compact at the time...well at the time ...it was!

Hi Dan,

I had to endure an enforced break as exam time at school is always frantic, and with more students taking up the study of Media my coursework workload went through the roof. I also took 30 eleven year olds to Italy for a Classics trip, and have begun the handover as I step up to be Head of ICT as well as Media at school.

So, all in all, a hectic six weeks. However, life is a little more manageable now so I'm writing furiously to make up for lost time.

Thanks for keeping the faith!

Regards,

Sacha

Since you have been away, I have begun experimenting with High Dynamic Range Photography and am addicted to it. I have several images of HDR process on my blog when you get a chance.
